get listeners on their feet. It is no surprise that the diminutive dynamo would count powerhouse divas like Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion among her greatest musical influences.

Jordan Davis Impacting Top 40/Hot AC Radio

Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis is impacting Top 40/Hot AC radio with “Going Out With a Bang”.

Coming out of North Carolina with both barrels blasting, Jordan Davis fires out a blend of rock, rap, country, and blues that will keep you rocking from the first shot of the night well past last call.

Growing up in Rockingham, NC, Jordan was influenced by Kid Rock, Bob Seger, Hootie and the Blowfish, Eminem, Corey Smith, Aaron Lewis, Metallica, Green Day, and Zac Brown Band. After taking up songwriting in 2009, he began to learn how to play the piano and guitar. Just a few short months later, Jordan played his first show at the Richmond Community Theatre in Rockingham. He continued to cut his teeth on the local music scene playing bars and open mics. Jordan started out writing and recording songs while in college at UNC Wilmington, putting out an EP on his own in 2012 titled Time to Rock. He had his release show at the venue where he played his first show.

Jordan gets his inspiration to make music from listening to music. “I listen to all kinds of music from different decades and different genres. I will listen to old records and try and figure out what I can take from them and create something new and fresh. I will find a song I liked growing up and make my own version of it.” Another influence is where he grew up. “I think it is pretty clear listening to my music that I am from the South. The sound and the lyrics all have a little southern influence to them.”

Heading into the studio in late 2014 with new material, Jordan set out to record not just great music but as he says, “I wanted to record a statement of everything that I am both lyrically and musically, with attitude and tenacity. My goal was to capture a certain energy that really showcased the many influences I’ve had in music.” Jordan believes this collection of songs is his biggest musical accomplishment to date because it’s his best work. “I wrote all of the songs myself. I already loved the demos when I brought them into the studio and the session players really polished them and added a fullness to the sound. I was able to get the recordings to sound as good as I originally envisioned.”

With the assistance of great studio players, and a solid sense of direction from producer Wyatt Easterling, what resulted from those sessions was an arsenal of high-octane songs that will get your blood pumping and your soul singing. Aptly titled Real RocknRolla, the 5 song EP mixes genres fluidly while still maintaining a solid focus on real Rock N Roll. Since the songs are so diverse, it captures all of his influences. Jordan believes that the blues based rock ballad “The Other Side” is the best song he’s ever written. He describes “Going Out With a Bang” as rap/rock banger and is the heaviest song on there but it still has some acoustic guitar mixed in that gives it a southern element. The track is a nod to Kid Rock’s influence. “B.A.M.F.” is a tongue-in-cheek blues/funk song that will be fun for live shows. The title track leans toward southern rock, while the closing track, “Whiskey Walkin’” is the closest Jordan gets to country. “It is a great drinking song with a little twist. I don’t know if you can really place me in one specific genre and I’m fine with that.”

Jordan went to Wingate University in Wingate, NC for two years before transferring to UNC Wilmington. He graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2011. In 2013, Jordan began working on his Masters in Sport Management at Wingate University. He will be graduating in May 2015.
