Red Hot Chili Peppers Unleash New Song

Coldplay to Live Blog Paris Show

Coldplay has sold out this Sunday’s show at Stade de France. To honor this feat, they have decided to live blog from the show on their Tumblr. The concert begins at 8:30 PM local time, 2:30 PM ET, and 11:30 AM PT. For those that aren’t good at time zone math, the band has kindly made this.

The Killers Release Teaser Trailer for New CD

The Killers have released a series of trailers to promote their upcoming album, Battle Born. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci stars in the clip “Ronnie, The Sage”.

The Killers To Perform Vevo Concert

On September 18, the same day Battle Born drops, The Killers will be performing live on VEVO and YouTube. The concert takes place at the Bronx’s Paradise Theater at 7 PM ET. The band has chosen to work with director Wenrer Herzog, who plans to use a camera on drummer Ronnie Vannucci and also a crowd surfing cam. For more on why Herzog was chosen, go here.
Rolling Stones Documentary Gets September Release

The Rolling Stones have a tour documentary that will be released on September 29th. The Rolling Stones:Charlie is My Darling-Ireland 1965 will be shown at the New York Film Festival. It will be shown again on October 3rd. The screenings will be shown at Walter Reade Theater. The film is about the band’s tour in Ireland shortly after “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” went to number one. For more, visit the festival’s website.

Personal Items Belonging to Elvis Up for Auction

Several items belonging to Elvis, including dirty underwear, will be available for auction starting September 8th through Omega Auctions. It is believed that the underwear may be sold for up to £10,000 ($15,800). A personal 16mm home movie shot by Priscilla Presley, handwritten letters,a strand of his hair, as well as The King’s personal bible will also be auctioned. Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship Raise Money for Injured Friend 

Andrew Bishop “The Butcher” Mrotek was recently attacked and robbed on his way home. The assailants used a flower pot to hit Mrotek which broke his jaw in two places and broke his cheek in three places. He was then knocked to the ground and kicked into unconsciousness. According to an e-mail sent out by Adam T. Siska (The Academy Is…), Mrotek suffered fractured eye sockets, “ 25 stitches across his face, 30 stitches on his gum line, 20 stitches on his eyelids, 3 titanium plates screwed into his skull and has been in and out of the ER for surgery and countless doctors checkups for nose bleeding and intense ear/sinus/facial pain.” Siska also says that Mrotek does not have health insurance. The Academy Is…, Panic at the Disco, Cobra Starship, Fall Out Boy, and Gym Class Heroes have all teamed up to help their friend by selling a We <3 Butcher tee shirt. 100% of the proceeds will go to Mrotek to go towards his bills. The shirt sells for $20. It is currently available for preorder and will ship September 10. Fans can give money directly to The Butcher by donating to a Paypal account and send it to butcherprints@gmail.com.

Fans Can See Metallica Live for $5

Metallica is currently shooting footage for “Metalli-3D”. It is a film documenting the last month of their tour. On August 27, the band is inviting fans to come see a full live show at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. Tickets are $5 (no extra fees) and will benefit the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Tickets will be available to the public on August 26 at 12 PM ET through Ticketmaster.

Mark David Chapman Denied Parole
Mark David Chapman has once again been denied parole 31 years after he murdered John Lennon. Chapman has asked for parole every two years since 2000. Though he has had good behavior and positive achievements, the board denied him because it would “undermine respect for the law” as well as “trivialize the tragic loss of life.” Click here for more on Chapman’s parole hearing.
Dave Grohl Doc Clip Features Lars Ulrich
Dave Grohl has a documentary, Sound City about the famed Studio City. Grohl has previously released a trailer, but now clips of the film are being unveiled. One features Lars Ulrich discussing the first record he bought. Other clips are available.
 My Morning Jacket, Ray LaMontagne, and John Mayer Performing at Levon Helms Benefit
On October 3, “Love for Levon”, a benefit concert honoring Levon Helms will take place at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. My Morning Jacket, Ray LaMontagne, John Mayer, Patti Griffin, and John Hiatt are just some of the artists paying their respects. Tickets go on sale August 29. Prices range from $61.00 to $241.00. The Killers Release Another Teaser Video

The Killers have released another video to tease their upcoming album, Battle Born. This one stars guitarist Mark Stoermer in “Mark, The Silver”.

The Killers Cover Oasis

Covering Oasis is the new cool thing to do (The Wanted, One Direction, and Liam Gallagher’s own Beady Eyes have all covered the band recently). The Killers chose to do their rendition of “Don’t Look Back” a few nights ago while playing in Staffordshire. Take a look at their version.

John Lennon’s Tooth Part of Artwork

Last November, Michael Zuk purchased John Lennon’s tooth in an auction. He paid $32,000 for it, though it is too fragile to be DNA tested. Zuk gave a small piece of the tooth to his sister Kristen to use in her art. She will be displaying the sculpture at the Alberta Fringe Festival to promote the Smile Train charity. The Boss, Eminem among Artists Performing at DNC

When the Democratic National Convention (DNC) comes to Charlotte, they will be joined by several big name artists. It is being reported that parties and fund raising events will include Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, The Roots, John Legend, and Styx. The DNC takes place September 3-6.

Cee Lo Green to Sing NFL Theme

Cee Lo Green will be recording “I Love Football” for Thursday night NFL games. The song is reportedly set to the tune of the Ramones’ “Blitzkreig Bop”. For more, go here.

Romney Campaign Sent Cease-and-Desist from Silversun Pickups

The Silversun Pickups do not want Mitt Romney to use their song “Panic Switch” at his campaign rallies. The campaign reportedly did not have permission to use the song and were sent a cease-and-desist order. Romney’s camp claims they did not chose the song when it was played recently at a set up for a rally.

Amy Winehouse Inspiration Awards for Tony Bennett, Nas

On October 11, the Amy Winehouse Inspiration Awards and Gala will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Tony Bennett, Nas, and producer Salaam Remi will all be honored for “inspiring greatness in others”. The Amy Winehouse Foundation is putting on the ceremony. In the U.K., the foundation raises money for children’s hospices. In the United States, the foundation raises funds for after-school programs and music therapy for disadvantaged children. Taylor Swift Sees Red

Taylor Swift has announced a new album due out October 22. Red features 16 songs, including the lead single “We’re Never Ever Getting Back Together”. Missy Elliot and Timbaland Not Part of Aaliyah Album

Though Blackground Records announced the involvement of Missy Elliot and Timbaland on the Drake produced Aaliyah album, Elliot’s rep denies any involvement. From Rolling Stone’s website, “Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate,” said Mona Scott-Young, Elliott’s manager. “We’ve seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”

Adam “MCA” Yauch’s will was filed in New York yesterday. His will explicitly states that his music and “artistic property” cannot be used for advertising purposes. Beastie Boys Sue Monster Energy Drink The Beastie Boys have filed a lawsuit against Monster Energy Drink over unauthorized use of songs. The group believes that fans mistakenly thought they supported the energy drink. Four songs, including “Make Some Noise” and “Sabotage”, were used in an ad on Monster Energy Drink’s website. The website also featured a medley that the Beastie Boys made available for a downloadable mp3. Read more now. Drake Confirms Posthumous Aaliyah Album It has been confirmed that Drake is producing a posthumous album by the late Aaliyah, despite her family’s objections. The album will be released by Blackground Records, which is owned by her manager/uncle Barry Hankerson and his son Jomo. Drake along with Noah “40” Shebib will use 16 unreleased tracks and fragments to produce the album, according to Rolling Stone. Frequent Aaliyah collaborators Missy Elliott and Timbaland will be involved. The LP is scheduled for release early next year. Mumford & Sons Release Lead Track from Upcoming Album Mumford & Sons are back with new music to follow up their Grammy winning Sigh No More. The lead single, “I Will Wait” was released on Tuesday. The album, Babel, will be out on September 25. Aaliyah’s Family Doesn’t Support Drake Record Drake recently released a new single, “Enough Said”, by Aaliyah, on which he is a guest star. He has also been rumored to be working on a posthumous album for the singer. The Haughton family says the new album wouldn’t be official according to Aaliyah’s Facebook page. However, Rolling Stone notes that Aaliyah’s uncle/manager, Barry Hankerson, has the rights to her unfinished music. His label, Blackground Records, released the Aaliyah/Drake collaboration, through Drake’s October’s Very Own. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw Are Going to Vegas Country superstar couple, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, is moving to Vegas. They’re taking their Soul2Soul show to the Venetian Hotel & Casino. The show will run from December to April. These are the dates to catch the couple: December 7/8 December 14/15 January 18/19 January 25/26 February 1/2 February 15/16 February 22/23 March 1/2 April 12/13 April 26/27 R.E.M. Reissues Document for 25th Anniversary On September 25, R.E.M. will reissue the album that brought them to mainstream masses, Document. The release comes just in time for the 25th anniversary of the album. “The End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” and “The One I Love” is on the album. The special edition is digitally remastered and comes with a second disc of unreleased material. Fans will also find a concert in Utrecht, Holland from September 1987. The Black Keys, Foo Fighters to Play Global Festival The Black Keys, Foo Fighters, and Neil Young are among artists that will take part in the Global Festival on September 29. K’Naan and Band of Horses will also take to the Great Lawn in Central Park to play at the charity concert. The goal is to “urge our leaders and citizens to do more to help end extreme poverty.” Most of the tickets will be given away via a lottery. To enter the lottery, visit Global Citizen’s website and sign up. You will then earn a minimum of three points by sharing, learning, or taking action. Drake Releases Track with Aaliyah On Drake’s blog, he posted “Enough Said”, a song with the late R&B singer with Aaliyah. There have been rumors that Drake is producing a posthumous album by Aaliyah. Weather Rains on Lollapalooza’s Parade “Dangerous weather conditions” forced Lollapalooza to shut down on Saturday around 3:30 PM. Lightning, heavy rain, hail and winds of 70 MPH were being reported by the National Weather Service. B.o.B, Alabama Shakes, and Neon Indian were among some of the cancelled sets. The festival got back underway at 6 PM. Because of the festival’s delay, the City of Chicago extended the curfew. Fun. was the first artist to play. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Santigold, Avicii, and Frank Ocean closed out Saturday’s performances. Lady Gaga Announces “ARTPOP” Lady Gaga has tweeted the name of her next record: ARTPOP. She debuted the title via a new tattoo.
