Mic Donet Impacting Top 40/Hot AC Radio

Mic Donet

Howard Rosen Promotion (www.howiewood.com) artist Mic Donet is currently impacting Top 40/Hot AC radio with Losing You.

There are these moments in life in which everything suddenly changes¦

For Mic Donet it was the moment when Xavier Naidoo, after having listened to and fallen in love with Mic’s album Plenty of Love, sat the participants of The Voice of Germany down and required them to listen to the entire album start to finish, without skipping one single track. At first they didn’t understand why they were being made to listen to a colleague’s entire album, but by the end they were all deeply moved and inspired. The album, which Xavier N. describes as Grammy-worthy, was so successful and persuasive that Universal Music published it the following June.

The genre is soul. In its purest and most honest form. Timeless. Elegant. Organic. And so full of love. One can hear his love in every note of the album. His wonderfully warm voice, his evolved harmonies and arrangements and the intimacy of the album transport the listener to a world where raw emotions are not only accepted but also celebrated. Mic’s music is progressive and new and yet simultaneously pays homage to the classic greats. During the production of the album we had the Quincy Jones albums Thriller and Off the Wall in mind. We didn’t want to sound retro but timeless. There’s a big difference. It was pretty complicated and time-consuming, like making something really intricate by hand, recalls Donet. We even recorded real string players. We kept telling ourselves we were crazy to be so painstaking about it, but we made it and it was worth it, because it was so fun, he says, smiling. The overriding theme of the album is love in all its forms and complexity: True love transcends time and space. The things that one does for love and one’s convictions are the only things that lead to true, long-term success¦ I think when we believe we can do anything and allow ourselves to realize our ideas and dreams, we make a new reality and with it a new world.

Mic wrestled with this idea for a long time before he was given the opportunity to take part in the first season of The Voice of Germany. In the end I found this concept of the American reality TV series great, and this helped persuade me to take part in it all as the opportunity presented itself. The fact that Xavier was to be my coach on the show also played a huge role in my decision to participate. I couldn’t ever regret this decision. Not even for a second.

Beyond a creepy-fun alter ego for multi-talented singer, songwriter and performer Cheri Anaclerio, Characula is her turned upside down as she unleashes the demons in her powerhouse imagination to create, in a tip of the blood-dripped cap to Frank Zappa, blistering music about monsters, sex and rock ‘n roll.

An engineer by trade, Characula may not be able to hide her wild inner truth from anyonemuch longer, considering the momentum that’s been building since fall 2012. Before Halloween and for a few weeks after, her infectiously ghoulish single “Mummy Dance” snagged airplay on numerous Top 40 stations across the country; her follow-up, a blazing cover of Bad Company’s “Ready For Love” recently jumped ten spots into the Top 50 on the Mediabase Activator Chart, just behind superstars Maroon 5, Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull and Mumford and Sons.

Characula is busy putting the finishing touches on her full-length debut album, helmed by renowned rock producer Dito Godwin (No Doubt, Great White, members of KISS, Motley Crue).
