Among a handful of the most innovative, original and influential artists of our time, Narada Michael Walden’s stature as an authentic musical renaissance man is a matter of record.
Producing Hits for Artists as diverse as Aretha Franklin (including the platinum “Freeway of Love.”), Steve Winwood, Ray Charles, Wynonna Judd, Whitney Houston, George Michael, Mariah Carey, Barbara Streisand, Lionel Ritchie, Lisa Fischer, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones, Jeff Beck and The Temptations, the EMMY and multi-GRAMMY winner (Producer, Album and Song of The Year) has been at the helm of hit music that spans decades. His music flows freely from pop, rock and soul, to the rarified realms of jazz, fusion and world music. With Jeff Beck, Narada wrote and played drums on the seminal album “Wired” that earned them both their first Gold Album. Walden was an integral part of introducing Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to millions of fans worldwide, producing and writing their breakthrough hits that first brought these divas to the spotlight. Billboard Magazine honored him as one of the Top Ten Producers of all time.
As impressive a production and songwriting resume as Narada Michael Walden has assembled over the past thirty years and counting, he has earned equal acclaim as a recording and performing artist in his own right. Beginning as a drummer first with the pioneering Mahavishnu Orchestra (replacing Bill Cobham at 19 years old), Narada also toured with Jeff Beck, Tommy Bolin, and Weather Report. Through eleven acclaimed solo recordings, along the way he has branched into a wide range of sonic arenas. Walden’s music includes groundbreaking soundtrack work on such blockbuster films as The Bodyguard, Free Willy, Beverly Hills Cops II, 9 ½ Weeks and Stuart Little to the EMMY-winning “One Moment In Time,” the theme to the 1988 Olympic Games.
The list goes on, but the artistry of Narada Michael Walden is about more than charts positions and record sales. There is a powerful spiritual component at the heart of everything this richly gifted artist undertakes, an attuned and intuitive approach with a deep appreciation for music’s transforming power. Simply put, the artistry of Narada Michael Walden gets to the heart of matter, about matters of the heart.
It’s a commitment that reaches into the philanthropic arena as well, where Walden consistently lends his time and talent to causes ranging from the Cancer Society to funding music programs in the nation’s schools through his own foundation. For seven straight years he has served as Music Director for the Rainforest Foundation Concert at Carnegie Hall, the high profile conversancy benefit spearheaded by Sting and Trudie Styler that has featured the likes of Elton John, Billy Joel, Ravi Shankar, James Taylor, Brian Wilson and, of course, Sting himself.
His “Narada Michael Walden Foundation” delivers its services through a network of non-profit organizations with proven records of success in youth education and community empowerment. The Foundation also endows scholarships for aspiring musicians and enables the stars of tomorrow by offering emerging young artists from around the world access to recording facilities, coaching and production support.
With awesome abilities matched by a truly humble spirit, Narada Michael Walden is not only one of the legendary talents of our era: he is also one of the most admired, emulated and authentic. You can hear it in his music.
Collin Brooks Impacting Top 40/Hot AC Radio
Collin Brooks impacting Top 40/Hot AC with “Girl Like You”.
It’s like something out of a movie. Reared where the sky is a great expanse of cornflower blue, the grass grows emerald, and steeple posts raised to the clouds like trees branches reaching for glory, Collin Brooks hails from the Great Plains of Texas. In the simple, clean-aired living of Denton, the young singer-songwriter learned to write and strum his guitar. The humble country boy next door was crooning Drake and Bruno Mars on YouTube one day, and on a flight to New York to meet with major R&B producers the next. Act One, Scene One: a new millennial star is born, carrying his personally inspired stories of young love, lived faith, and indomitable hope.
Sweet voiced with a broad range and agile instrument, if the soulful 21-year old wunderkind sounds like church, it’s because he’s been pulpit singing from age 11. Brooks honed his tenor through choirs and the adult worship team at Christian Gathering Church where his father is pastor. By age 17, Brooks had taught himself bass, piano, and acoustic guitar and served as the Minister of Music. It helped his growth that the close-knit Brooks family is steeped in both gospel and secular music, including a back-up singer for Carrie Underwood and a grandmother, Connie Perry, who scored a Nashville hit, “I’ll Be Your Pillow,” with the country act, One Accord.
Taking heart in his family’s rich musical legacies, Brooks began recording himself on YouTube, first singing covers of pop hits like Drake’s “Sooner Than Later,” Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours,” and most famously, Kenny Rogers’ “Lady.” The acoustic homages captured the All American boy’s versatility and influences: the tone of John Mayer, the falsetto of Justin Timberlake, and the soul pop sensibilities of Adam Levin. More than earning a reputation as a talent at John H. Guyer High School, Brooks captured thousands of YouTube fans for his boyish charm and stripped bare, gospel-riffed showcases.
Then through a series of fortunate events, a New Jersey BMW salesman with Texas ties impressed a major New York music management team with shared videos of Brooks. Instantly, Brooks went from being a carefree high school graduate who enjoyed a good NBA game, attending church and hanging out, to flying to NYC to perform, write and record with well-renowned producers.
Still pinching himself, Brooks is crafting intimate originals like the true-life relationship inspired “Juliet” and “Who Knows?” and the fan favorite, “Fly Away,” an inspirational honoring Brooks’ grandfather. Collins is also hobnobbing with artists like The Dream, and creating magic with premium producers such as Kaleb “KQuick” Robbins of Grand Staff (J Cole, Jim Jones) and Grand Karriem “K-Mack” Mack of the Soul Diggaz (Beyoncé, Fantasia). Blown away at what talent, faith, and hard work can do, Brooks is planning the introduction of his voice to the world through a series of promotional tours and spotlight performances in support of his debut release “Girl Like You”.
“I just want to be the best Collin I can be,” says the talented Texan. He’s already well on his way.

The Notion Going for Official CMJ Adds 8/31 & 9/1
The Notion is going for official CMJ adds with their album, “In Vino Veritas”.
The Notion doesn’t care about standing there and looking pretty. That’s simply not what rock is about. Yes, rock is music..but it’s also a vibe. It’s that feeling you get when you listen to your favorite record. It’s dancing around acting a fool at a live show. It’s connection, love, hate.
It’s sober, drunk, high, low. And it’s real. The Notion’s goal-to keep the vibe of Rock alive.
Catchy hooks, loud guitars, punching bass, aggressive drums..that’s The Notion.
Sure, just a 3-piece, but wasn’t Nirvana, Green Day, Blink-182, and Silverchair just a 3-piece?
It seems the 90’s have had quite the influence on these Notions and they are not afraid to show it.
Raised on anything from punk, grunge, to the classics such as Hendrix and The Beatles..
Mijo, Lauren, and Ronnie have brought their influences together to make up the perfect trifecta.Knowing exactly who they are and where they come from, makes for some good ole fashioned-no bullshit-rock n roll.
The Notion has just poured their souls and emptied their pockets into their first full length album, ‘In Vino Veritas’. Now available on iTunes and www.cdbaby.com/cd/thenotion1
No lube necessary.
Alex Nixon Impacting Top 40/Hot AC Radio
Alex Nixon is impacting Top 40/Hot AC radio with “Take You Back”.
Alex Nixon (Alexandra Johansen Nixon) is an 18 year old pop singer born and raised in Yorba Linda California. Singing has always been her passion from the youngest age. She sang in preschool and elementary school choir. But she took up dancing as her first profession early on. From age 9 she began competing for the UCWDC (The United Country Western Dance Council) and by age 15 she won a first place world championship title. Alex decided it was time to focus solely on her music career and retired from professional dancing.
Alex started immersing herself into singing again. She joined the Vocal Ensemble Choir at Esperanza High school, earning her a solo at practically every performance. She began training with vocal instructor Eric Futterer, an understudy of acclaimed vocal coach Seth Riggs. She also started writing and collaborating on original songs with songwriter/producer Jerod Farnes. Together the two wrote her first single “Meant To Be”. A video soon followed. It wasn’t long before an A&R rep came across the video on YouTube and wanted to meet. Alex was then meeting with the biggest major labels!
Alex has been garnering a loyal following since her debut single release. With the right songs now in her arsenal, she has her sights set on releasing an EP this fall and playing more shows. The lead single off the yet untitled EP is called “Take You Back”. “It is a song that can be easily relatable.” Says Alex, “The up and down roller coaster of breaking up and getting back together again. It’s about finding the strength to break that ridiculous cycle and call it quits for good.” Hence the main tagline in the song, “I’m never gonna take you back”.
The sky is the limit for Alex as she is continually fielding offers from record labels and about to embark on a national radio campaign with her incredibly sweet and infectious single “Take You Back”.
